World Class Masters Runner
His versatility may be his strongest attribute. He is nationally ranked in everything from the 1500M to the marathon, he was one of the top finishers in the marathon and was only .4 seconds off the 1500M age group record. He trained and raced successfully with good runners who were 20 years younger. He is an inspiration to everyone and is proof of what the human animal can be if you work hard and keep that burning desire to be the best at what you do.
He is best known for his running career, which he resumed at the age of 47. He successfully completed over 35 marathons with a P.R. of 2:41:45 at age 54. In august 1991, Donald set the U.S. 1500 m and 3000 m record masters (60-64). The 3000 m record still stands. He is the honoree of the annual Donald Gammie Turkey Trot (5k fundraiser in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on Thanksgiving Day).
